In the Sheffield region, the birth of tech businesses is on the increase and Sheffield now has strong digital technology foundation with it’s tech community growing with the emergence of networks such as Sheffield Digital.
Sheffield has developed beyond all recognition in the last decade. Investors, both domestic and international, are demonstrating great confidence in the city which is evidenced by the evolving skyline and growing business base.
The region is renowned for their industrial heritage and have a rapidly growing reputation for technologically advanced manufacturing and engineering, plus industrial digitisation to meet Industry 4.0.
The University of Sheffield also plays a key role in nurturing and growing entrepreneurial talent to meet the UK’s digital skills gap. Also, Campus Capital, one of the UK’s on-campus investment funds, was launched from the University of Sheffield and it invests in early-stage technology companies.
The region is certainly attracting a greater range of technology companies and the future looks promising with government investment into Sheffield’s first digital incubator.
