For years, Portsmouth has been at the forefront of naval technology, and has companies leading the world in their fields. Portsmouth is home to two thirds of the Royal Navy surface fleet and in 2017, the first of the two new £3bn aircraft carriers, the largest ships ever built by the Royal Navy, arrived in the port, bringing £120m investment in the naval base.
